Please be advised that Brooklyn Community Board 14 has scheduled the following public hearings in September 2019:

If a hearing exceeds its allotted time, the following hearing will begin immediately after. All materials for public hearings are available for review at the Community Board 14 office.

POTENTIAL COMMUNITY RESIDENCE: In compliance with Section 41:34 of the New York State Mental Hygiene Law, OHEL Children’s Home & Family Services and the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities have submitted an application for a Potential Community Residence to be located at 1769 & 1771 Ocean Avenue, between Avenue L and Avenue M within Community District 14. This Individualized Residential Alternative dwelling will be located in two one-family semi-detached houses and serves as a relocation site from the 1554 East 14th Street Community Residence for six (6) adult females who are experiencing mild and moderate intellectual disability. There will be supervisory and residential staff on duty 24 hours a day with recreational activities and programs planned for evenings and weekends. Each person living in this residence will attend a day habilitation program each weekday. The New York State Office For People With Developmental Disabilities will license this residential program as a Community Residence for the developmentally disabled.

VARIANCE: An application for a Variance has been filed with the Board of Standards and Appeals (BSA), pursuant to Section 72-21 of the Zoning Resolution of the City of New York, to request a variance waiving Sections 24-11 (floor area/FAR), 24-34 (front yard), 24-35 (side yards), 24-36 (rear yard) and 25-31 (parking) to permit the construction of a two-story plus cellar Use Group 4 synagogue within an R2 zoning district.
