Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office Accepting Applications For Four-Week Virtual High School Internship Summer Program – Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez today announced the launch of the application process for high school juniors and seniors interested in participating in a four-week virtual summer internship program. The summer internship is open to students who live and/or attend high school in Brooklyn and are interested in learning about the different careers and roles of various participants within the criminal justice system. Community Outreach Interns – The Fresh Air Fund is recruiting part-time Community Outreach Interns to work within our Community Outreach Team for the Winter semester. Community Outreach Interns will work directly with Community Outreach Managers and help to spread awareness of The Fresh Air Fund’s summer programs. Project Reach Youth Internships – The PRY intership offers young adults, ages 18-24, who are not in college and not working with a paid internship opportunity to build their professional experience and gain skills along the way. The internship is 12 weeks long and each intern is required to complete 18 hrs per week between the hours of 9 AM – 5 PM Monday-Friday. NYC’s Ladders for Leaders program provides high school and college students the opportunity to participate in summer internships with some of the most dynamic corporations and businesses in New York City. The NYC Ladders for Leaders program, a component of the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), provides professional internships to NYC youth between the ages of 16 to 22. This competitive process differs from the traditional SYEP model in that it requires applicants to submit an application to one of several community-based organizations (CBO) serving the five boroughs. Applications are evaluated based on academic performance, response to an essay question, and resume. Once participants have been selected, they are engaged in 30-hours of pre-employment training designed to teach essential workplace readiness skills and business etiquette. Interviews for summer internships are scheduled by our partnering CBO’s in a variety of industries from the public and private sectors. Final selections for the six-week internship are made by our partnering employers. NYC Fellows Film Program Now Accepting Applications: The NYC Fellows Program is accepting applications for the 2017-2019 program from NYC high school students ages 14-18 from across all five boroughs. The Fellows Program is an award-winning, 30-month immersion in cinematic storytelling and production training for high school students. The Ranger Conservation Corps – The Ranger Conservation Corps (RCC) is an urban environmental internship for high school students. RCC participants work on environmental restoration in Forever Wild sites located in our flagship parks. There are two RCC sessions each year (fall and spring), and each session lasts 8 to 10 weeks. The program occurs one day a week, on a school day afternoon for 2 to 2.5 hours. RCC is a great program for students who are interested in the natural world or environmental issues. It is an excellent opportunity to gain experience while working with the Urban Park Rangers. Participants may go on exciting field trips including canoeing, overnight camping and more. RCC participants receive community service hours, and the experience looks great on a college application. Description: The Friends of Van Cortlandt Park are offering two separate internships for youth this summer. Below is more information on each program and how to apply. Both are competitive programs so please make sure to get your completed application in on time and best of luck!
• The Youth Run Farm Stand Internship offers the rewarding opportunity to learn about produce in an urban setting. Within the FVCP garden interns will assist growing the produce, and complete tasks such as weeding, watering, and maintaining the garden beds weekly. While running the outdoor markets, the focus is on merchandising, customer service, and how to promote the stand in the community. The markets also include youth led cooking demonstrations to encourage healthy eating in our community. Work schedule each week is a total of 15 hours spread over the course of 3 days during the summer and 5 hours of work each week during the fall. This internship has been partially funded by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.
• The Summer Teen Trail Crew Internship combines hard work and environmental conservation for a rewarding experience. The teens work to complete a variety of projects on over 20 miles of trails in Van Cortlandt Park including maintenance, habitat restoration, and invasive species removal. Highlights from last summer’s program include the completion of 3 footbridges and more than 30 check dams, both of which will help prevent trail erosion. Along with trail maintenance, the crew learns about the ecology of the park and how removing non-native invasive plant species improves the overall health and quality of the forest. Students participating in this internship have a positive impact on Van Cortlandt Park while learning valuable green job skills. Work schedule is a total of 25 hours spread over the course of 4 days for the summer. This internship has been partially funded by the Pinkerton Foundation.

Description: The Young Adult Internship Program (YAIP) is DYCD’s workforce development program targeting young adults between 16 and 24 who are not working and not in school. The program is part of the Center for Economic Opportunity, which was created to promote innovative approaches to poverty reduction. It is a 14-week internship program for low-income New York City young adults. YAIP begins with a 2 to 4 week orientation conducted by DYCD funded community-based organizations and is followed by a 10 to 12 week paid internship that offers structured work opportunities. This is a year- round program; the program incorporates ongoing education, as well as additional participant and employer support. Next cycle begins in July.
