MTA Service Changes: B/Q Brighton Line

The MTA will be performing track maintenance on the Brighton line (B/Q subway line) during Autumn 2022.  This work will improve the safety and efficiency of the Brighton line. The MTA will be working along the Brighton line during the weekends of October 21-24, October 28-31 and November 4-7, 2022. MTA Public Hearing on the Interborough Express

The Interborough Express is a proposed rapid transit project that would connect areas of Brooklyn and Queens. On Thursday, May 19 at 6 p.m., the MTA will hold a virtual meeting on plans for the Interborough Express. Attendees will get an overview of the project and can ask questions and submit comments. Volunteer with the MTA Mask Force

Join the MTA on Thursday, June 17 for Mask Force Round 12. Volunteers are needed to distribute free masks to transit customers and to help encourage 100% mask compliance to keep transit riders and frontline employees safe. Masks are still required on public transit and at stations; please help us ensure that every customer has a mask by signing up here! Learn more at new.mta.info/maskforce. Volunteers receive a KN-95 mask, gloves, sanitizer, and bright yellow Mask Force gear to help customers identify them.

MTA Virtual Fare & Toll Hearings

The MTA has scheduled several Virtual Fare and Toll Hearings in December 2020. Speakers must register in advance if you wish to testify or comment. Street Closure Notification

Community Notification: Please be aware that the MTA has scheduled track construction on the Brighton Line (B/Q subway line) for Friday, September 12 – Monday, September 15, 2014. Preparation work and the unloading of panels will take place on Friday between 7 AM-5 PM and material staging, track removal and track installation will be from Saturday at 12 AM through Monday at 5 AM.  Due to crane placement, the following roads will be closed from 8 AM-4 PM on Friday and from 11 PM Friday to 5 AM on Monday: Beverly Road and Dorchester Road, between East 16th Street and Marlborough Road. Parking will be restricted at each crane site for 150 feet to allow for crane placement and material staging.

MTA: Brighton-Line Stations Reopen

Northbound B & Q Train Service Has Resumed at the Parkside, Beverley & Cortelyou Stations.
MTA NYC Transit has announced that beginning Monday, October 28, 2013 at 5:00 a.m.,  normal northbound service along the Brighton line will resume. Station component work at the Parkside Avenue, Beverley Road and Cortelyou Road Q stations that has been ongoing since July 2013 has now been completed and northbound trains will no longer bypass these three stations. The station rehabilitation work was completed two weeks earlier than the originally planned. The southbound bypass of these three stations is scheduled for early 2014, most likely mid-February to mid-June 2014.  For continued updates regarding station rehabilitation, visit our Projects page or the MTA’s website at www.mta.info.

November 12 -14 (Tues-Thurs,) 9:45 AM to 3 PM
Manhattan-bound Q-trains run EXPRESS from Kings Hwy to Prospect Park.  Brighton Beach-bound B trains will run local during these hours. For more information, visit www.mta.info

November 15 – 18 (Weekend,) 11:45 PM on Friday to 5 AM on Monday
There will be no Q train service between 57 St-7 Avenue and Church Avenue. Q-train service operates between Stillwell Avenue and Church Avenue. Free shuttle buses provide service between Church Avenue and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, stopping at Parkside Av, Prospect Park, and 7 Av.
• To Manhattan, take D/F/N trains from the Stillwell Avenue station.
• To Coney Island, take the D/F/N trains at 34 St-Herald Square station or take the D/N train at Atlantic Av-Barclays Center Station.
• For service betweeen Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and 57 St-7 Av stations, take the N or R trains.

Q Train Service Announcements – Jan-March 2012

There will be no Q train service between Prospect Park and 57th Street during the weekends of Jan. 7-9, Jan. 14-16, Jan. 21-23, Jan. 28-30, Feb.  11-13, Feb. 18-20 and Feb. 25-27. Shuttle buses will replace all Q subway service between Prospect Park and Atlantic/Pacific Street. For travel between Atlantic/Pacific and 57th Street, riders are instructed to take the N train which operates on the same line. According to the MTA, the weekend diversions are for track work and replacement.

Southbound Q trains operate express between Kings Highway and Brighton Beach during the weekend of March 17-19.

B/Q Service Announcements

Shuttle buses will replace all B & Q subway service between Pacific Street and Prospect Park from 10:00 pm Friday, November 25 until 5:00 am on Monday, November 28th.  This is due to ongoing construction work for the Atlantic Yards Arena.  Check www.mta.info for further updates.

Street Closure Due to Brighton Line Rehabilitation Project

Granite Construction has informed us that Avenue L between East 15th Street and East 17th Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from Monday, March 7th to Sunday, March 20th due to crane operations to lift and install precast units onto rail cars at Avenue L.

Two shuttle bus routes provide express and local service:

Express buses run between Stillwell Av and Prospect Park stopping at West 8 St, Ocean Pkwy, Brighton Beach, Sheepshead Bay, Neck Rd, Avenue U, Kings Hwy, Flatbush Av 2 train and Prospect Park Q train.  Transfer between shuttle buses and trains at Prospect Park, Flatbush Av 2 train and Stillwell Av D, F, and N Stations.

Local buses run between between Prospect Park and Kings Hwy Q Stations.

Transfer between shuttle buses and Q and S trains at Prospect Park.

• To connect between stations in the express and local shuttle bus areas, transfer between shuttle buses at Kings Hwy.

Note to Manhattan-bound customers between Kings Hwy and Stillwell Av:

For faster service to Manhattan, take the express or local shuttle bus to Stillwell Av and transfer to the D, F or N trains.

MTA Public Hearing on B23 Bus Route Elimination and Student Metro Card Elimination

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority will be holding public hearings on proposed changes in fares and crossing charges, levels of service, such as the elimination of the B23 bus and student metro cards, and partial or complete closings of subway stations or of means of public access to stations.

Proposed changes are summarized below and pertain, as applicable, to MTA New York City Transit (NYCT), the Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority (MaBSTOA), MTA Staten Island Railway (SIR), MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), MTA Metro-North Railroad (MNR), MTA Bridges and Tunnels (B&T), MTA Long Island Bus (LI Bus) and MTA Bus.

For more complete descriptions of these potential changes, please consult information posted at MTA stations and on the MTA website, www.mta.info or call 212-878-7483. Please note: other service adjustments and cost-reduction steps are under consideration that may also affect operation of subway, bus and rail lines, bridges and tunnels, staffing of stations and general provision of service. Although these possible changes do not require public hearing, they are described in informational material available on the MTA website.

In accordance with applicable legal requirements notices are being posted at appropriate locations throughout the MTA system with respect to the proposals under consideration. Update on Q/B Service Changes Due to Construction

Starting Monday, September 28th, there will be major changes to Q and B train service at the Avenue H and Avenue M train stations.

B and Q Coney Island-bound side of Avenue H and Avenue M stations are closed for rehabilitation

All times, beginning at 5 AM Mon, Sep 28, until Fall 2010

B and Q trains operate local between Prospect Park and Kings Highway.

Customers who need to exit at Avenue H and Avenue M should take the train to Kings Highway and transfer to a Manhattan-bound train.

• Coney Island-bound riders entering at Avenue H and Avenue M should take Manhattan-bound B and Q trains to Newkirk Avenue for Coney Island-bound trains.

•  Brighton Beach-bound  and Coney Island-bound Q trains continue to bypass Avenue U and Neck Rd.

And as a reminder, Brighton Beach-bound and Manhattan-bound B trains will be running on the local tracks until Fall 2011.
