NYC Library Fine Amnesty Program
Between October 19 – November 2, 2017, NYC libraries are pleased to announce a one-time fine amnesty for library fines accrued by young patrons. On October 19th, the New York Public Library, Brooklyn Public Library and Queens Library automatically cleared all outstanding fines and fees from overdue, unreturned, and lost materials for kids and teens under the age of 17. High School students ages 18 and up are also eligible, but fines will not be cleared automatically. Patrons over the age of 18 should visit their local library where staff may waive fines on a case by case basis through November 2, 2017. SNAP Assistance Event

SNAP specialists from the Council of Senior Centers & Services (CSCS) will be available to answer questions about the SNAP (food stamp) program and eligibility guidelines. They can assist with and submit SNAP applications for applicants and help with Change Reports and Recertification. Call the AARP hotline at 877-926-8300 to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome. If you are unable to attend the event but would like assistance, call the CSCS SNAP Outreach Office at 347-815-5930 or email snap@cscs-ny.org.

Free Microsoft Excel Workshop

Cortelyou Library Service Upgrades
The Cortelyou neighborhood library at 1305 Cortelyou Road will be temporarily closed from October 15th for approximately four months to complete infrastructure upgrades and customer service enhancements. The upgrades will include replacing the heating and air conditioning systems, replacing the boiler, and installing duct work. Customer service will be enhanced by the addition of self-check machines, replacing the circulation desk with customer service and information desks, and installing book return slots.
