Free Covid-19 Tests

Starting this week, every home in the U.S. will be able to order an additional set of 4 tests. Every home in the United States is eligible to now receive two shipments of four at-⁠home COVID-⁠19 tests from the federal government. The tests are completely free. Order your tests now so you have them when you need them. To place an order, go to www.covidtests.gov.

Please Donate Blood

The City of New York has been a proud partner of the New York Blood Center (NYBC) for over 50 years. NYBC announced a blood emergency on December 8, 2021. Currently, NYBC the blood supply only stands at a 1–2-day level, well below the ideal inventory of 5-7 days. NYS Excluded Workers Fund

The Excluded Workers Fund is now open! The Excluded Workers Fund (EWF) is a New York state initiative that will provide a one-time payment (Tier 1: $15,600 pre taxes; Tier 2: $3,200 pre taxes) to workers who lost income between March 27, 2020 and April 1, 2021, and were excluded from state Unemployment Insurance and federal Pandemic Unemployment Assistance. Applications are open at dol.ny.gov/EWFApply. You may use a mobile device or computer to submit your application, which is available in 13 different languages.

NYC COVID-19 Information & Alerts

Visit CB14’s COVID-19 resource page for more information, news, alerts and resources about New York City & State’s response to the novel coronavirus including testing and vaccination locations. New Yorkers are encouraged to stay home and to stay up to date with all latest announcements regarding COVID-19 by visiting www1.nyc.gov/site/coronavirus/index. COVID-19 Zone Map

New York City has implemented new Covid-19 restrictions in areas of New York City in areas where higher rates of Coronavirus infection have been identified. Impacted neighborhoods are divided in three zones: red, orange and yellow. Specific rules for schools, businesses and public gatherings are applied in each zone in order to slow the spread of Coronavirus. A heat advisory is in effect for New York City from 12 p.m. Monday, August 10 through 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 12. Cooling centers are open across the city beginning Monday. Get Covered NYCThe annual U.S. Health Insurance Enrollment Period is Open! The Affordable Care Act offers New York residents many low-or-no-cost options. During the annual Open Enrollment Period, from November 1 – January 31, most New Yorkers can enroll in new coverage or change their existing coverage. DOE Free Summer Meals Program

The Department of Education (DOE) 2018 Summer Meals Program begins on June 27th and will run through August 31st (except July 4th and August 21st). Free breakfast (8 AM-9:15 AM) and lunch (11 AM-1:15 PM) will be available to all children up to age 18 at hundreds of public schools, community centers, public pools, libraries and other locations around New York City. No registration, documentation, or ID is required to receive a free breakfast or lunch. Health Dept to Spray for West Nile Virus

To reduce mosquito activity and the risk of West Nile virus, the Health Department will spray pesticide from trucks in parts of Brooklyn on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning, weather permitting. In case of bad weather, application will be delayed until Thursday, August 20, 2015 during the same hours. The neighborhoods listed below are being treated due to rising West Nile virus activity and have high mosquito populations. The affected neighborhoods within Brooklyn Community District 14 are those south of Avenue K.

The Affordable Healthcare Act’s Open Enrollment period extends through February 15, 2015. For health insurance coverage in 2015, you must enroll by this date. Call 3-1-1 or text “CoveredNYC” or “SeguroNYC” to 877877 to find in-person assistance. Visit the New York State Insurance Exchange website at www.nystateofhealth.ny.gov for information on how to enroll or to make an appointment with a healthcare Navigator, a trained professional who can assist with every step of the application process. Mosquito Spraying Notification

Community Notification: Due to weather conditions on August 21st, the Department of Health postponed its spraying event in Brooklyn until Monday, August 25, 2014 between the hours of 8:15 PM and 6:00 AM the following morning.  To reduce mosquito activity and the risk of West Nile virus, the Health Department will spray pesticide from trucks in parts of Queens and Brooklyn. Click Here to see the Spraying Map for our area. Women’s Health Dinner Symposium
