Apply for Summer Youth Employment (SYEP)

The SYEP Deadline to submit applications has been extended to April 14, 2023

Applications are now open for the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP).

SYEP is the nation’s largest youth employment program, connecting NYC youth between the ages of 14 and 24 with career exploration opportunities and paid work experience each summer. Through SYEP, participants can explore different interests and career pathways, develop productive workplace habits, and engage in learning experiences that strengthen their social, civic, and leadership skills. By participating in structured project and work-based opportunities, NYC youth are better prepared for careers of the future.

The deadline to apply is March 31, 2023. Deadline has been extended until April 14, 2023 Visit the SYEP website to learn more and to apply.

16th Annual Youth Conference Scheduled for April 3

CB14’s Youth Service, Education and Libraries Committee is thrilled to announce our 16th Annual Youth Conference will take place on Monday April 3, 2023 from 4-7pm at the Brooklyn College Student Center (2705 Campus Rd).

The Youth Conference is a wonderful opportunity for young people ages 14-21 to connect with organizations, businesses, schools and agencies offering summer jobs, afterschool programs, career development, college information and more. Service providers offering health, immigration, legal and other support services will also be in attendance. In addition to tabling by various organizations, agencies, educational institutions, and businesses, young people can participate in half-hour workshops. CB14 is excited to once again be partnering with Brooklyn College for this event.

16th Annual Youth Conference

15th Annual CB14 Youth Conference is Today!

Young people are invited to join over 50 City agencies, nonprofit organizations, and businesses at LeFrak Center at Lakeside in Prospect Park on Wednesday, April 27th from 4-7 PM for our 15th Annual Youth Conference. Brooklyn Community Board 14 is inviting young people, ages 14-20, to help establish a CB14 Youth Leadership Council. Youth volunteers will participate in meetings, represent the YLC at board events and introduce youth-led initiatives within the community. YLC members will help identify issues in our community and bring ideas for solutions to the appropriate agencies and elected officials in NYC. NYC Summer Youth Employment Program

The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is the nation’s largest youth employment program, connecting NYC youth (ages 14-24) with career exploration opportunities and paid work experiences each summer. SYEP Summer Bridge 2020

Applications are open for the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) Summer Bridge 2020! Youth (ages 14-24) should submit applications before the July 15th deadline for NYC’s free virtual summer youth program. CB14 Youth Conference

Youth (ages 14-21) and their friends and family members are invited to attend CB14’s 13th Annual Youth Conference on Wednesday, March 11th from 4-7PM at the Brooklyn College Student Center, 6th & 7th floors. Meet with representatives from over 70 City agencies, nonprofit organizations and businesses to find out about exciting opportunities for the summer and beyond. Summer Youth Employment Program Suspended

The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) has been canceled for Summer 2020. DYCD announced on April 8, 2020, that given the uncertainty over how COVID-19 will continue to affect social distancing guidelines, worksite availability, and provider and site staffing, DYCD is unable to ensure that SYEP can be operated safely and efficiently. Effective immediately SYEP has been suspended for Summer 2020. For more information, visit nyc.gov/SYEP.

DOE Free Summer Meals Program

The Department of Education (DOE) 2018 Summer Meals Program begins on June 27th and will run through August 31st (except July 4th and August 21st). Free breakfast (8 AM-9:15 AM) and lunch (11 AM-1:15 PM) will be available to all children up to age 18 at hundreds of public schools, community centers, public pools, libraries and other locations around New York City. No registration, documentation, or ID is required to receive a free breakfast or lunch. 11th Annual CB14 Youth Conference

Brooklyn Community Board 14′s 11th Annual Youth Conference is just around the corner! Join us on March 15th, 2018 from 4-7 PM at the Flatbush YMCA (1401 Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn.) Young people, ages 12-21, along with their friends and families are invited to attend CB14’s Annual Youth Conference on Thursday, March 15th, 2018. Participants will have the opportunity to meet with at least 50 NYC agencies, businesses & community organizations offering internships, volunteer opportunities, after-school programs, summer jobs, college information, social, legal, immigration & other support services. NYC Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is Accepting Applications Now!  NYC’s Department of Youth & Community Development has released the applications for the 2018 NYC Summer Jobs program. If you are an NYC youth between the ages of 14-24 who is looking for valuable work experience and wants to earn some money this summer, please complete the SYEP application and take the first step to landing your dream summer job. Apply for a Paid Internship (Ages 17-24)

This summer’s Young Adult Internship Program begins July 31 at three locations in Brooklyn and Jamaica. Young adults are encouraged to apply today! Youth must be 17-24 years old, out of school and unemployed, NYC residents, and eligible to work in the US – a diploma is not required.  Participants work 25 hours a week gaining job skills, life skills and work experience, earning up to $3,850 in 14 weeks! Apply for a DYCD Summer Job by March 31!

Applications are open for the 2017 Summer Youth Employment Program! The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) provides New York City youth between the ages of 14 and 24 with paid summer employment for up to six weeks in July and August. Participants work in a entry-level jobs in a variety of exciting industries. Youth can apply for the program online, at a community-based organization during the application period. Participants are selected by lottery for the program.  For more information, call 311 or DYCD Youth Connect at 1-800-246-4646.  The application period has been extended to March 31st.

CB14 YOUTH CONFERENCE 2016

Brooklyn Community Board 14’s 9th Annual Youth Conference was held on Thursday, March 31, 2016, 4-7 PM, at the Flatbush YMCA (1401 Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn.) Thank you to the over 70 organizations and hundreds of young people who attended the event and made it our biggest success yet! We will host our 10th Annual Youth Conference in Spring 2017 for New York City residents, ages 12-19, looking for volunteer opportunities, internships, summer jobs, community-based programs and more. For only $5, each member receives homework help, tutoring, creative arts such as dance, drama, fashion and fine arts, in addition to a robust sports and fitness program, music studio and character and leadership programs. Boys & Girls club is a safe place for children to learn, grown and have fun.

    Dual enrollment and college-readiness programs for NYC 11th and 12th grader students.
  45. National Youth Organization of Pakistan & the Alliance for Pakistan and Urdu Studies at NYU
    Offering a youth internship program, skills training programs & a language program.
  46. NEW (Nontraditional Employment for Women)
    A free seven-to-nine week training program for women interested in blue collar careers. Upon graduation women are placed in union construction apprenticeships, facilities maintenance jobs, positions with public utilities and transportation careers.
  47. New York Aquarium – WCS
    For teens interested in wildlife conservation, science, education, and public speaking, the NY Aquarium is seeking teen volunteers (aged 15-19 yrs. old) to be discovery guides.  Discovery Guides help staff exhibits, teach visitors about marine conservation, and assist at events and education programs. As a docent or discovery guide, teens have the opportunity to meet individuals from around the world and join a family of fellow volunteers, staff, and wildlife experts who share a passion for our natural world.
  48. New York Historical Society
    Summer programs include the Student Historian Internship program (for rising 10-12 graders as well as matriculating college freshman), the Scholar Program (rising 9-12 graders) and the  fall Saturday Academy which provides free SAT prep to all students.
